ADVOCATE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL GARDEN RENOVATION

In collaboration with Advocate’s Children’s Hospital, TERRA designed a tranquil Children’s Garden to provide a restorative outdoor oasis for patients and their families. Initially envisioned as a refresh of the existing plaza, the project expanded into a comprehensive garden renovation that includes a new pergola, calming corner, vehicular screening, updated paving and signage, and enhanced landscape design. Through close client engagement, the primary goal was to create a soothing environment that offers relief from the activity of the hospital campus. This goal informed the selection of lush planting, materials, lighting, and sensory design elements. The garden is envisioned as a multi‑sensory experience featuring a water element, sensory planting, musical features, and kinesthetic sculptures visible from within the hospital. TERRA led the concept design and development of a marketing package to support fundraising efforts, with Phase 1 construction anticipated for completion in fall 2026.
